Eyelid Surgery

For many people, the area around your eyes is the first place to show signs of aging. Wrinkles, loose skin, or “bags” under the eyes can give an impression of being tired, sleepy, or old before your time.

Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) is a procedure in which excess skin is removed from the eyelids to reduce sagging of the upper and lower eyelids, resulting in a more youthful appearance. In cases where sagging skin hangs over the upper eyelids, blepharoplasty improves field of vision.

Sometimes the problems around the eyes may include structures other than skin. Herniation or bulging of fat around the eyes can create sagging, baggy appearance of the lower eyelids. Perhaps the angle of the corners of the eye may sag, causing a tired look as well. These issues may also require alteration as well during a blepharoplasty.

Incisions can be hidden in the upper eyelid crease and inside the lower eyelid. A blepharoplasty typically has very little discomfort and can give your eyes a vibrant, alert, and refreshed appearance that will help you look as good as you feel- no more “rough night?” looks from your friends or co-workers.
