Massive Weight Loss and Body Contouring

People who have lost a massive amount of weight (eg. bariatric surgery, after pregnancy) may be left with unappealing excess folds of skin and fat deposits that don’t go away with diet and exercise. Sometimes body conturing surgery – a group of procedures aimed at improving your proportions by removing, lifting or redraping excess is the only solution to regain a pleasing silhoutte and eliminate problems with fitting properly into clothing.

The abdomen, thighs, upper arms, and flanks are commonly treated areas. Examples of these procedures include abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”), brachioplasty (“arm lift”), thigh lift (thighplasty), and buttock lift. Often, multiple body contouring surgery procedures are performed to achieve the best results and may be combined with liposuction to treat troublesome areas.

One important thing to consider with body contouring surgery is that, given the extent of skin that may be removed, incisions may be vary in length and the use of drainage tubes is usually required. This does not necessarily translate into unsightly scars, as areas for incisions are hidden as much as possible.

Regadless, the results of body contouring surgery can be quite dramatic, and the benefits immeasurable.
