How much does BOTOX cost? Can I save money by avoiding doctors and plastic surgeons?

During your consultation with Dr. Lou, he will create your individual treatment plan which will provide an estimate on the total cost. The treatment cost will depend on how many units of BOTOX are needed. In the hands of a trained medical professional, like Dr. Lou, BOTOX can produce wonderful results. On the other hand, in order to save money, some people turn to discounted or off-brand injections. This can be incredibly dangerous, with poorly administered treatment resulting in a droopy eyelid or worse. What comes after BOTOX? Are BOTOX injections painful?

BOTOX is a quick and virtually painless injection. Botox patients should avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours. We advise our patients to not touch their faces and to sleep propped up to make sure the BOTOX stays in the targeted muscles. Most patients notice some minor bruising, swelling, or redness at the injection site. This should dissipate after a few days without lasting side effects. The results are noticeable approximately 1 week after treatment and last about 3 – 4 months. How long will the BOTOX treatment last?

You will see positive effects of a BOTOX injection treatment from our Houston clinic last up to 4 months. We recommend patients schedule follow-up appointments every quarter, but you can return earlier as well. If you started BOTOX before you had visible wrinkles, you may be able to schedule your touch-up farther apart. Dr. Lou will help you decide when you schedule future visits during your consultation. 

How can I improve my results?

BOTOX injections target fine lines that form on the forehead and around the eyes. If these lines are severe, Dr. Lou may recommend using an injectable filler along with the BOTOX treatment. For patients over the age of 50 who want to achieve a more youthful appearance, a facelift or brow lift could work wonders. These combined treatments would ensure long-lasting, beautiful results. 

What's the difference between wrinkle fillers and wrinkle relaxers?

When we use the muscles in our face, our expressions create dynamic wrinkles. This results in frown lines on our foreheads, smile lines on our cheeks, and wrinkles under our eyes that we call “crow’s feet”. Two popular ways to treat these wrinkles and fine lines are wrinkle relaxers (such as BOTOX) and wrinkle fillers (such as Juvéderm and Restylane). BOTOX relaxes the muscles in the face that cause dynamic wrinkles, while wrinkle fillers fill in depressions (wrinkles) under our skin. Based on your wants and needs, Dr. Lou will recommend filler, BOTOX, or a combination of the two we refer to as “liquid facelift”.

Are Dysport and BOTOX different?

Both Dysport and BOTOX are botulinum toxin-based wrinkle treatments. While they are both injected into the face muscles, they have some key differences, including recommended dosage, treatment spread, and result duration. During your visit, Dr. Lou will determine which option will give you the best results based on your needs.

How safe is BOTOX treatment?

You should not experience serious complications if BOTOX is properly administered and in the right dosage. Using too much product could affect the muscles in parts of the face that don’t need to be relaxed. That is why relying on a doctor who is experienced and professional, like Dr. Lou, is incredibly important. BOTOX has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available.
